God’s Favorite Aroma

Aromatherapyand the Bible

Blue and green must be Gods favorite colors. There is so much blue and green in nature, plants are mostly green and the sky is blue and lakes and oceans are blue. Any satellite view of the earth is all blue and green. Another thing God must like is fragrant aroma. Think about all the things in nature that smell nice, flowers, trees, conifer forests, fresh sea breeze, puppy breath, cut grass, warm hay….. God’s favorite aroma is the aroma of His people that have been covered by the aroma of Jesus.

The old covenant that God established required many burnt sacrifices. Animals were placed on alters and burned, the smoke of which was a pleasing aroma to God. He said to the Israelites, “You shall offer up in smoke the whole ram on the altar; it is a burnt offering to the LORD: it is a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the LORD.” (Exodus 29:18) The sacrifices made the people holy again, until next time. These sacrifices were often referred to as a pleasing aroma to God.

The new covenant requires one sacrifice, Jesus was that one sacrifice. He died once for all people past and future. (1 Peter 3:18, Hebrews 7, Hebrews 10:10) All the sins that were rolled back by the old coven at are removed completely by Jesus. All our sins have been removed. All we have to do is accept His terms. One of those terms is that we follow Jesus, to be imitators of Jesus. “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.” (Ephesians 5:1-2)
“For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things? For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.” (2 Corinthians 2:15-17)
