Aromatherapy Benefits the Pocketbook.

clove2Aromatherapy can save you a lot of money. But I don’t mean smelly candles and air fresheners. Aromatherapy in the true sense of the word means therapy from aroma or therapy from the use of aromatic plant oils. Essential oils are steam distilled from various plant material. During the distillation the oils of the plant are released into the steam, as it cools the steam turns to water and the oil floats to the top. These oils contain the chemical compounds the plants use to heal and protect themselves and are effective in helping the human body to heal and protect it’s self too.

According to the Food and Drug Administration essential oils are considered food not drugs, therefore claims cannot be made that essential oils can heal or cure any medical condition. Nor can medical terms be used, such as antibacterial, anti viral or anti-inflammatory.

High quality, pure, therapeutic grade essential oils can be expensive and often many different essential oils are recommended so how can using them save you money? Compared to the fact that one doctor visit can cost nearly one hundred and twenty dollars the cost of a couple bottles of essential oils doesn’t seem like much.

1. Using therapeutic grade essential oils can help you and your family stay healthy and stay out of the doctors office.

Also essential oils can help fight off colds and flues. When the symptoms first present themselves use a little peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree or clove and the oils will help the body defend its self. Essential oils can also help fight off most infectious diseases. You will be surprised at how effective the oils can be. While all the other kids are sick at home your kids will be healthy and working away at school. You will save more on doctor bills than you realize, however if your loved one does not improve with the use of essential oils then you should take them to the doctor.

2. Essential oils can save you money by eliminating so many over the counter drugs.

Essential oils can be expensive, when you consider how small the bottle is. Keep in mind that a little goes a long way, all you ever use is a few drops at a time. Essential oils are wonderful multi-taskers. One essential oil can be useful for many things. For example lavender is good for just about any skin condition or injury, it is very calming to upset emotions, it is soothing to sore tired muscles and can help with headaches. Peppermint is good for runny or stuffed noses, it improves mental clarity (keep some handy for long road trips), it is very refreshing on a hot summer day, it is good for up-set stomachs, and aching muscles and can help bring down a fever. Can you find one over the counter drug that can do all that? Essential oils can help just about any kind of condition you would buy an over the counter drug for, such as, other than what has been mentioned, insomnia, skin rashes, digestive troubles, ear aches, toenail fungus….

3.      Emotional balance can mean more productivity.

Essential oils are wonderful for balancing the emotions. Some essential oils can relieve anxiety and anger, some can promote courage and self-love, most of them are simply up lifting, they can be calming and promote feelings of peace and harmony, all this by just inhaling the wonderful aroma. So when your family is on edge or restless you can put some distilled water and oil of your choice into a little mister or spray bottle and spray it around the room. When they are emotionally balanced they will be more likely to get the things done that they need to do. Peppermint and rosemary help clear the mind and improve focus so the kids can do better with their homework. Essential oils can help you be in peace as well, so that you can concentrate and you will be able to get more work accomplished with your renewed mental clarity.

Even though essential oils may seem expensive for such little bottles using them can help you and your family save a lot of money by staying healthy and happy and by avoiding so many over the counter drugs that target a single symptom. Essential oils are all natural, plant based, and have no dangerous side effects listed in such small print that you can’t even read. People with plant allergies will have to be careful when choosing essential oils, but if handled correctly using pure therapeutic grade essential oils is very safe, even for small children and they are very effective.
